How to become Ridiculously Powerful in Fable
Written by Lewis Fitzjohn
So it’s clear that by being here you have come to get what everyone who comes here wants to get. Enough XP and money to max your character out and enough money buy every single item in fable. I can show you how to do this without even having to complete any quests. However if you do want to complete them as you go, that’s entirely up to you (it’s your character after all)
To Begin
Your journey as a hero begins as soon as you first step into the green XP item in the map room of the guild. It’s here that you can choose between almost any of the attributes in order to begin shaping you character. So what to choose.
Well the first spell you will need to increase your XP levels is “Physical Shield” however, you cannot afford this yet, So I recommend that you purchase “Guile” in order to improve your profit making.
Money
So the next most important thing to XP is money. Being loaded is the best way to improve yourself at the earlier stages of the game. If you have all the best gear from the start, you’ll definitely go far.
Luckily for you, I can show you how to get loads of money. Enough in fact to buy the whole of Albian (and more).
Card Pairs
To begin with, you’ll need about 5000 gold. The best way to do this, is to play at the card pairs table in the pub at bowerstone. When you begin, bet as little as possible until you're confident that you're betting on a sure thing. If you have a system, to complete this then you will be. My system is as follows.
Start from the top left and work your way across as if you are reading a book. Once you've uncovered the first two cards say them back in your head (or aloud if you fancy giving off the appearance of a complete nutter). You only have to remember the numbers, the colors and suit are irrelevant.
Let's say you've worked your way through the top row and you've got "Jack, Nine, ten, Ace" all faced down. if the next card is a ten, count in from the top left and say back the numbers "Jack, nine, ten" and uncover that card. Now all you have to remember is "Jack, nine, Ace" as you have eliminated the ten. Keep folowing this system of making a list of numbers and eliminating the pairs untill you've found all of them. Don't worry too much about time, if you stick to the system, you'll have plenty. If you rush and make a mistake, you'll waste much more time than if you take it easy and think about it.
when you start betting serious dosh, make sure you have about 100 gold at all times, Incase you fail. I find it helps to mute the telly as well, cos the peoples speech can be really distracting. the maximum amount you can bet is 1000 gold. Once you have over 1000 you should bet the maximum each time. don't get too carried away however. once you have about 5000 gold, there is a much faster way to make money than this.
Trading with Guile
Once you have a few grand you can begin trading. if you have enough guile points, you can buy and sell from the same trader and make profit. For example, if a trader has a large quantity of something, say 100 apples, they will sell them for cheap. If you go "buy all" you will get them all for this price. Then the trader will have no apples and will want to pay more, than what he sold them for. if you go to "sell" select the apples and go "sell all" then he will pay that same larger amount for all the apples. Hay presto, you've made profit. You can repeat this process as many times and with any trader you wish. If only life was that easy.
I find to begin with, you should trade potions as they are quite popular and will get you a reasonable profit once you have about 100 of them. The best way to make money though, is to trade EMERALDS. if you see any traders with them for sale, buy them. if you have a large number of emeralds, you can make about 30,000 gold each time you and "buy all" and "sell all". Always remember to Buy all of your items back once you're done. Otherwise you are throwing away your business to the trader.
Experience
There are also some very sneaky ways in which one can acquire ludicrous amounts of XP in Fable. The two spells you will need are "Physical Shield" as mentioned earlier and "Force Push" to aid your combat multiplier. Getting this multiplier up will be your top priority for acquiring XP, and using these spells, you can get it over 100 pretty easily. You will need lot's and lots of will potions however, as you will most definitely kane them in order to get a multiplier that high. Remember, pressing Right on the D-pad is the hot key for drinking a will potion when your will is not full.
Physical Shield
As you probably already know physical shield effectively turns your mana bar into your health bar which may make you think "well what's the point in that?". Well the main reason why this spell is my favorite is because of the combat multiplier. If you get hit with the shield up, you don't lose any numbers from it. If you want to get any substantial amount of XP, this spell is essential. remember to keep drinking will potions though as if your mana runs out, you will lose your XP multiplier with the next hit that you take.
Force Push
Did you know that you can use this spell on dead bodies? If you mow down a few baddies (or innocents) you can keep tapping on force push over their corpses to increase your Combat multiplier, or at least keep it from going down until the next victim shows up. If you collect four or five corpses in the same spot, the multiplier will go up even more with each cast, using up less mana.
it is worth building up your magic power and your physical shield to keep you safe from harm. with both of these at decent levels, there's no need spend XP on health or toughness.
Summon
So, What to do when your multiplier is high. If you turn your physical shield on and off rapidly, you will gain mana experience. If you really want to rinse the game, I recommend using the summon spell. The first time you activate it, you will use up a fair chunk of mana, but if you trigger it again (whilst the spell is active) it will use a tiny amount and still give you the same mana experience. Also, you can reactivate this spell very rapidly, giving you significant amounts.
Weapons
Right, so what good is it having a good combat multiplier if you aren't any good at slaying critters? With the right weapons you will be. Here are my recommendations.
Wellow's Pickhammer
this legendary weapon can be found behind the demon door at Greatwood Gorge where the bandit's have set up the toll bridge. You can acquire this one by eating a load of crunchy chicks in front of the door (about ten should do it). This is a good strong, and light weapon to start you off, however you may wish to consider skipping this one and going straight to the Cutless Bluetane.
The Cutless Bluetane
I really love this weapon, it looks cool and it's verrrrrrry good at killing things. To get hold of it, you have to show the demon door at Greatwood Caves that you have a combat multiplier of over 15. to get this, simply kill the hobbes outside it (with your physical shield up of course) and force push the corpses till it's high enough for him.
Skorm's Bow
This is my favorite weapon of the whole game, and can be obtained right at the beginning. To obtain it you must sacrifice someone to the chapel of Skorm, just before midnight (and not a second after). to do this you should follow these steps.
1. go to the chapel of Skorm
2. teleport to oakvale and hire the mercenary standing outside the memorial graveyard
3. recall back to the temple
4. teleport to bowerstone and hire the guy in the pub
5. recall back to the temple
You have to sacrifice the guys, just before midnight and not a second later, you can use your clock in the top right hand side of your screen (the little circle with day and night cut into half's) to tell the time. When the night part is at the top, so that the arrow is in the center, it's midnight.
If you do this correctly, the guy at the chapel will say "you will go far" and he'll give you the bow.
If this fails, you can try something else.
1. go to the chapel of Skorm
2. teleport to oakvale and hire the mercenary standing outside the memorial graveyard
3. recall back to the temple
4. teleport to bowerstone and hire the guy in the pub
5. Go to the picnic area (near the guild)
6. stand by the sundial and wait 'till the shadow is almost at midnight
7. recall back to the temple
8. sacrifice them
if you get to the picnic area in the middle of the day, you can use a moonfish to change it to night time. I think also it helps to be good before you do this, and I hope you don't mind getting 600+ evil points.
The Master Greatsword
If you've got the cash, this is the best melee weapon you can wield at the start of the game and it can be purchased from the guild weapon shop. It does require that you have enough physique to properly wield it as it is a heavy weapon. This one works brilliantly with the Berserk spell also.
The Solus Greatsword
You can obtain this sword at a shop in Bowerstone North. It's pretty pricey but by this time, you should be loaded anyway. This area becomes available to you after completing "The Arena" quest.
This sword has more power than you'll need, I recommend putting a "piercing" augmentation on it, although "sharpening" will make it pretty kick ass too.
This works brilliantly with the Bezerk spell
The Bereaver
If you are willing to give up all or your silver keys to the demon door in the Necropolis, you can become the proud owner of the most awesome weapon in the game. True, you don't get to fulfill your curiosity of what might be in all the chests, but if it's power you're after, it's well worth it.
Again, using Bezerk with this one is absolutely devastating
The Master Collection
If you happen to be a rich bastard with more money than sense, it's nice to obtain the full master weapon set. you can augment them, and if your stats are high enough, they're all pretty kick ass. these can be obtained from the Guild, Darkwood camp and Knothole Glade.
Rampaging!
In order to up your XP, you will need bodies to cut down. I don't need to mention that they're all over the place, but I can tell you some good spots to harvest XP.
The Guild
If you want total power fast, you'll have to come to accept that the best way to do this is by being an evil bastard. The most effective means of XP harvesting is right where you are based, the guild. If you kill a guard and refuse to pay the fine, you'll have an infinate number of foes to gain XP from. If you have a good weapon, and a half good level at physical shield and force push, you can get your multiplier up to insane levels. There are a couple of advantages over this area to others. Firstly, you cannot get kicked out of the guild (it would be great if you could but you cant) so you can keep fighting all day long. Secondly, you don't have to leave to upgrade yourself, and so your multiplier doesn't suffer. See how high you can get it (I've had it over 200 before) then tap summon rapidly. Your XP will go through the roof!
Hobbe Cave
If you want to go for the good option at the start of the game, it will take you longer, and it's pretty monotonous. The hobbe cave has critters that will give you good points when you kill them, however there is a slight problem. You will need to go between the entrance and the main chaimer in order to make them respawn so that you can tonk them again. Each time you do this, your combat multiplier is halfed making it difficult to get anything over 30. Still, it's a pretty good multiplyer and it will make you gain enough XP to hapily roam around without being properly threatened by anything (but it's not quite in the same league as a multiplier of 200).
Spells
I reccomend sticking to only a small number of spells in your hot-bar to start with, so that you don't get bombarded with icons when you want to tonk something quickly. Even if you own other spells, it's good to deactivate most of them and keep your fighting simple. I find the most effective offensive spells to be bezerk and enflame, these (combined with the XP gaining spells) are really all you need to comit total genocide.
What else?
Well the rest is really up to you You should now have enough money to buy what you like. Physical shield allows you to wear what you want, and your XP can be spent on whatever. If you are interested in silver key chests and demon doors, here's a good link for you
